I have been studying with Manjit for about five months and he has been very helpful and has provided sample material to study with and from. I am an Indian-American and I believe as a fluent Hindi speaker, Manjit has STILL improved my Hindi vocabulary. I’m learning Punjabi with him but I end up learning Hindi words and to a smaller extent , Urdu words often as well. All my lessons are very engaging and motivating. I make lots of mistakes still after over 2 years but Manjit is good at catching my silly mistakes and emphasizing where I need to improve and where I have improved since 2018. While I cooked for the ENTIRE hour Manjit and I discussed all the ingredients in Punjabi and Hindi. I did the cooking and spoke mostly in Hindi/Punjabi while Manjit corrected my Punjabi. I am a Hindi speaker learning Punjabi. It was a unique lesson because cooking utensils and cooking ingredients are very different and use unique non-daily vocabulary that only native speakers would use on a daily basis. Our lesson was very Hindi/Punjabi vocabulary intensive and I learned a lot of different terminology. UPDATE***
recent lesson did the WHOLE hour plus extra 20-30 minute bonus (longtime student) with manjit while I was doing abs (crunches) and pushups and talking about random topics in between.

Namaste! Mera naam MeLa hai (my name is MeLa). Eight months ago, I decided to take the step to learn the Punjabi language. After many failed attempts to find a local Punjabi teacher, I found Manjit. I liked his website and decided to select him as my teacher. Main bohat khush haan jo main keeta (I am extremely glad that I did)! Manjit bohat vadhia teacher hai (Manjit is a very good teacher). From the first time we met for class online, I could sense his sincerity and passion for teaching his native languages. His lessons are well organized and are easy to follow. Ohde kol bohat sabar aa (he has great patience)! Even when I ask the same questions repeatedly – he never demeans me. In fact, he is supportive and always goes the extra mile to reassure me that I am progressing. Udaharan de lai (for example), a few months back Manjit had finished a lesson with me and sent me the corresponding homework assignment to complete over the week. For one reason or another, I found that I was struggling to complete the homework. Saade path ton ek din pahilan (the day before our lesson), I went into full blown panic mode and abruptly decided to cancel the coming lesson. Manjit went out of his way to message me to ask why I had cancelled. When I explained that I could not do the homework and needed more time to complete it, he kindly asked me to not worry. He offered to complete the homework assignment with me and to answer any questions that I had. The way he approached the situation was very accommodating and intuitive – exactly what I needed! I ended up immediately booking a lesson to take him up on his offer. Things like that make all the difference in the world to me. If you are deciding whether to choose Manjit as your Punjabi or Hindi teacher – hor agge na dekho (look no further)! You will not be disappointed. Manjit is the true Hindi-Punjabi Guru. 😊

Hi! I’m Jaser, I’m from Mexico but I live in Canada. Here I found my best friend, Arshdeep, he’s Punjab and basically Punjabi is now part of my everyday life. That’s why I decided to learn his mother language, this will be my 4th language. I found Manjit online thanks to various testimonials like this one. I started with him around 2 months ago and I think I have made great progress. He adapts to my needs and he’s very patient with me. I honestly tried to learn Punjabi on my own but most of the info online are just random phrases and I didn’t even know how to pronounce them, also most of them is mixed with Hindi and/or Punjabi from Pakistan. With Manjit I am learning not only useful phrases and how to pronounce them correctly but also how the language works, its structure and now I can make my own phrases and communicate with my best friend in his mother language, which is making him really proud. Manjit’s teaching method is quite good because it introduces you the topics in a way that makes total sense, a start point, which was exactly what I was looking for. Also, he’s such a nice guy, which makes the classes more enjoyable. Sat Sri Akal Ji! Manjit is a fantastic teacher and his lessons are engaging and well thought out, with availability to suit anyone’s lifestyle. I have been consistently building on my understanding, speaking, and vocabulary and I have noticed myself understanding conversations within my own family to a far greater depth than I ever used to. I have tried many different methods of improving my Punjabi through apps, websites, and even books but Manjit’s teaching has proven far better than any of these. He also sends regular vocabulary and phrases via whatsapp which keeps me learning even in between lessons. The homework is also very good and always builds well on what we have learnt effectively. I consistently look forward to our weekly lessons and believe they are very good value. I can’t recommend him enough to those looking to start from scratch or simply improve on their Punjabi!

Manjit has been a phenomenal Punjabi teacher to my 11 year old daughter. She is really motivated to learn and always looks forward to the Punjabi class. He keeps the lessons simple and interesting by using different media and songs. He came highly recommended from our friends and my daughter has been rapidly learning how to speak as well as read and write in Punjabi.

I have learned more with Manjit in 1 lesson than I did in months with other instructors. Manjit truly creates student centered lesson plans. He has put thought in all of his customized material. You will not find his content anywhere else. He goes above and beyond and finds relevant material for the student. I am so impressed with Manjit and the time and efforts he puts in his teachings, even outside of the lesson time he is still sending me more material! I think the biggest plus for me is that he teaches colloquial and applicable teaching for everyday conversation, such as slang and everyday phrases compared to route memory, formal textbook style. Manjit is very patient and professional. Manjit’s lessons are informative and his homework assignments have really helped me learn the material. Manjit is a great Punjabi teacher. Previously, I struggled to learn Punjabi from books and other media online. I always wanted to become truly fluent in my mother tongue, but I had found that most material only teaches you formal Punjabi so most of what I was learning was not regularly spoken by native Punjabi speakers. I have been doing 2 lessons a week for the past 6 months with Manjit and I have learned so much formal and informal/colloquial Punjabi (+ reading/writing in Gurmukhi) that I have no doubt I will become fluent if I continue down this path. Manjit hand-caters his lessons differently for each student, and you can tell he is invested in his students’ success. If you are at all thinking about learning Punjabi and have not been convinced by this review, take a starter lesson with him and I guarantee you will book more after that.
